I never could figure out if this was supposed to be Run Rudolph Run or Run Run Rudolph, but I do know it is Fun Fun Fun!
Chuck Berry Christmas
Only the great Chuck Berry would think to include a song about Christmas in a non-holiday album. And of course it works, because he’s a genius! It’s Thursday, hardest day of the work week, so enjoy this special treat.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
This song has some real nostalgia associated with it. Sixth grade Glee Club members on risers arranged in a semicircle in the upper elementary school cafeteria facing rows of folding chairs filled with smiling parents in those pre-cell phone days when memories were entrusted to memory cells, instamatic cameras or clipped from the pages of the Kirksville Daily Express. I remember singing this song, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, and playing I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing on the soprano recorder. What I do not remember is whether there were any sixth graders not in Glee Club. Seems like it was a very large bunch.
Just for the record, I still have my recorder, and I still remember that tune.
Jingle Bells
I do not recall having ever posted Jingle Bells before.
Here it is for your Tuesday listening pleasure.
Christmas Card
Now moving along to another artist with a holiday tune made popular during his Partridge Family days.
Joy to the World
Joy to the World, the Lord is Come.
Silver Bells
Quick post before getting ready to dash to Kirksville.
Hope everyone has a great day.
O Little Town of Bethlehem
Later this morning Hanna, Ryan and I will be heading to St. Louis to lay to rest Hanna’s grandmother and my first mother-in-law. I am confident in my memory that this was one of her favorite Christmas songs, but it is painful to realize that her sudden, unexpected death means that I can no longer make a quick call or text to confirm. Life is fleeting; don’t put off contacting the people you love. Today’s selection is in loving memory of Ann Ogawa.
Jim Nabors was a favorite of my late father. For being capable of such a goofy “Gomer Pyle” speaking voice, he sure had a beautiful baritone. And by golly if you want to hear a particular Christmas song, he probably recorded it.
O Holy Night
I am digging all the live TV our pal Glen did!
And I do love this Christmas carol. Have a blessed day.
